The Northern Lights which are also known as the Aurora Borealis occur when solar particles collide with the earths atmosphere, resulting in curtains of green, pink, blue and green light. On our Northern Lights trips we take you to destinations where the Aurora Borealis are seen, however there is no guarantee that they will appear as they are an unpredictable phenomena. Your chance of seeing the lights is greater if you are above the Arctic Circle, away from light pollution (such as the abundance of artificial lights in cities and towns) and if the weather conditions are clear. Of course the longer that the duration of your holiday is the more likely it is that you will see the Northern Lights. Many of our Northern Lights trips also feature special excursions which are focussed on the Northern Lights, such as evening snowmobile safaris and a polar night with aurora gazing.
